French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs banned year-round on international flights
23 brachycephalic breeds (including Pugs, Boxers, Shih Tzus, Boston Terriers, Persian cats) banned May 1–October 1 on all flights
International flights: NO pets in cabin — pets travel as checked baggage in cargo hold (~$400 USD per crate). Domestic Japan flights: small dogs and cats allowed in cabin (last 5 rows, aisle seats, pet + carrier max 10 kg, ~6,000 JPY). Contact JAL or your travel agent at least 6 months before international travel to start documentation. Japan also requires 180-day FAVN titer wait period — see US-JP checklist.
